An integral part of many leather restoration projects, removing grease and oil contamination from leather furniture, car seats and clothing. Backed by the prestigious Good Housekeeping Seal, it removes grease marks caused by arms and hair, as well as from food spills or air freshener, as common examples.
Our Leather Degreaser Removes All Oil and Grease Stains
If your leather is dull, dark, or maybe even a little sticky – you may have a stubborn grease stain on your hands (or rather, on your furniture or car interior). At Furniture Clinic, we work with a variety of leather applications – including cars – so handling grease stains are right up our alley.

Ready for a fun fact about the Leather Degreaser? Despite its “grease”-geared name, the Leather Degreaser is also equipped to remove ink and other types of stains that have absorbed and soaked into leather – making it a product that can be pulled out of your supply cabinet for more than one purpose . This is most common on absorbent types of leather such as Aniline & Pull Up style leathers.
A Leather Degreaser that Goes a Long Way
As long as this product is sealed properly in a cool space, it will never expire. 8.5 oz. of our Leather Degreaser is enough to degrease a large head area stain (approximately 2 square ft. in size) about five times. 34 fl oz? Well, you can do the math – but that’s a lot of grease coverage!

Leather Degreaser can be used on all different articles of leather, from furniture and car interior to clothes, shoes, handbags and even equestrian leathers. It works on all colours of leather and all different grain types except Suede/NuBuck & BiCast Leather.

Leather Degreaser Coverage and Shelf Life
Using 8.5 fl.oz. / 250ml of our Leather Degreaser is enough to degrease a large head area stain about five times. A large head area stain would be about 15" x 15" in size. It would also be more than enough to degrease one-off grease stains like those occuring when oil is dropped onto leather for example.
The product will not go off but it can dry out if the cap isn’t sealed properly. Make sure to store it in a cool location with the cap tightly sealed.
Step 1. Clean the leather
Clean the leather first using our Leather Cleaner. Spray the Leather Cleaner onto a sponge and give the grease-stained area a thorough clean. If the grease stain has built up over years of use (where you rest your head or hands) you should soak the leather in the Leather Cleaner and squeeze the leather through the Terry Towel. This will absorb a larger amount of grease into the towel saving the amount of Degreaser used.
Step 2. Apply the Leather Degreaser
Using a paintbrush, spread the Degreaser onto the stained area and allow it to dry (drying times will differ depending on how greasy the leather is). As the product dries it will slowly absorb the grease - you will see this happening as the Degreaser will dry to a brown/yellow colour where it absorbs the grease, everywhere else will dry to a white colour.
Step 3. Allow to dry and remove powder
Once the Degreaser has thoroughly dried out it turns to a powder on the surface of the leather. This powder should then be vacuumed off.
Step 4. Clean the leather again
Clean the leather as before using the Leather Cleaner.
Step 5. Repeat process if required
If the leather still has any grease left in it, keep repeating the above processes again until it has gone.
Once the grease has been removed the leather may need re-colouring. To do this use a Leather Re-Colouring Balm or Leather Colourant Kit. To stop grease being absorbed again, use the Leather Protection Cream once every three months for thorough grease stain protection.
Note: Bi-cast (a very shiny and plastic like leather) can react with the degreaser and cause it to stick to the surface. This product is not suitable for bi-cast leathers. Please contact us if you are unsure of your leather type.

How do I know when all the grease has been removed?
When the Degreaser dries completely white; this means there is no contamination left within the leather.
If there is still grease left in the leather, the Degreaser will dry to a brownish/yellow colour.
Can I use this on any type of leather?
The Degreaser is safe to use on most leather types, however, it cannot be used on suede, nubuck or bicast leather. If you are unsure of your type of leather, we recommend contacting us for further advice before attempting to remove the stain.
How much should I put onto the grease stain?
It's better to apply a little more than not enough.
A thin coat will not absorb as much of the stain as a thicker coat would, meaning it will take a lot longer to remove the stain. We recommend applying roughly half a centimetre thickness of the Degreaser for best results.
I've used the Degreaser to remove an oil stain, but it has lightened the colour. Is this normal?
It is normal to see some colour fade after using the Degreaser. As the grease/oils are drawn out of the leather, sometimes it will draw out some colour at the same time.
This can be easily restored by using either our Re-Colouring Balm for absorbent leathers, or for non-absorbent leathers, use our Complete Leather Repair Kit for small areas, or our Leather Colourant Kit for larger areas.
