There are times when a temporary patch is all that we need, and there are times when a long-lasting repair is the only solution.

What calls for a solution that’s engineered for a goal of longevity? Well – when it comes to leather – the possibilities are endless. After all, we know that purchasing leather is not the cheapest material available today, and we want to partner with you to preserve the quality and durability of your leather items.

A common application for our Heavy Filler comes in the form of high use areas: from seating cushions in your living room, to the arms of your office desk’s leather chair.  A thick, paste based filler, this product gently fills scuffs and holes, dries within the targeted spot, and adheres to the leather so inconspicuously that a guest would never realize it existed in the first place.

Our Heavy Filler is a white paste, however, our goal at Furniture Clinic is to always provide an assortment of options that can be customized for your unique leather products.

This product can be paired with our Leather Colorant – also available in our online store – and together they team up to blend the filler color with the precise color you need. A top-rated product for not only its ability to be customized, but also its flexibility in purpose and application, our Heavy Filler is a must-have product for your leather treatment supply cabinet.

If you’re fed up with seeing the same scuffs and holes in your leather furniture day in and day out, it might be time to try out our Heavy Filler. While you can beat existing leather damages, you can’t beat the quality and quick shipping solutions that complement every purchase at Furniture Clinic.

Hole In Leather

A hole in leather

Fill the hole with heavy filler

After securing a ‘Canvas Patch’ behind the hole, it is filled with the heavy filler.

Level the filler to the top of the hole

The layer is dried with a hair drier, and re-applied until flush with the surface.

Sand filler smooth and replicate leather grain pattern

The filler is sanded smooth. Colour is then applied (in dots) to mimic the grain pattern.

Colour the area

The rest of the white filler is then coloured.

Apply final coat of colour to area for perfect repair

A final coat is sponged on and the hole disappears!

Q. How long does the Heavy Filler take to dry?

A. This depends on the thickness of coats applied.

We recommend applying several thin layers of filler, slowly building the filler up until it is flush with the leather. In repairing the damage this way, you can speed up the drying time to around 5 minutes per coat by using a hair dryer. If left to dry naturally you should allow roughly 1 hour between coats.

If you apply one heavy coat of filler into the damage, this will need to be left for 24 hours to dry.

Q. My leather has cracked; can I use the Heavy Filler to repair this?

A. You can, however, we recommend using our Flexifil for repairing cracked leather. The Flexifil has been developed for repairing areas which are considered high use areas. It is an extremely flexible paste which is best used on cracks, and areas which come under constant use and/ or high stress.

Q. Can I add a grain effect to the filler?

A. Yes, for best results we recommend using our Grain Repair. This is simply applied to the filler once it has dried and will replicate the grain, copying from the surrounding area of the repair.

Q. Is the filler sandable?

A. Yes, once the filler has fully dried, it can be sanded smooth to ensure a nice, flush finish to the leather. You should wipe this over with our Alcohol Cleaner.

Q. Can I use the Heavy Filler to repair vinyl or faux leather?

A. Yes, our Heavy Filler will work on all types of vinyl or faux leather. If you're a professional though, you will get better results using our Leather & Vinyl Weld. This is simply because this product has been developed to create a better bond with faux leather, creating a longer lasting repair.
